Designed to have broad appeal to people with a variety of backgrounds, this renovation of an older firehouse serves as an office, event space and food bank for the Byrd Barr non-profit.
The new design celebrates the building structure where exposed and existing architectural features. Feeling clean and bright, suspended luminous drum lights illuminate office areas. Amenities for the public include a flexible event space and grocery “market”, while upstairs staff offices create an open and flexible workspace. Framing for an internal wall is left exposed and featured with a row of tiny downlights and clusters of circular pendants anchor open stairways.
